Same Girl…Different Hair: Vegan Silk-Out w/ Alisha Taylor

How dope is this picture?! It’s the perfect image to use for me to explain what I recently experienced…a Vegan silk-out. Ok let me explain. A “silk-out” is when ionic flat irons are used to straighten your hair while conditioning and smoothing the cuticle. To break that down even more, it’s just considered as an alternative method for pressing your hair. The vegan portion involves using all natural hair care products. Products that are absolutely chemical, sulfate and gluten FREE. The Vegan Silk-Out is perfect for natural hair and also virgin hair extensions!

After Arjaunjubri raved about her Vegan Silk-Out with hairstylist Alisha Taylor, I was DYING to see what all the fuss was about. I immediately (without hesitation), booked an appointment with her! With a previous installment of three 18″ bundles of Same Girl…Different Hair Peruvian Deep Wave, we started the process by washing and conditioning my extensions with all vegan products. After the final rinse, I then experienced for the first time ever being put under a steamer for the Steam Hydration Treatment. This treatment is great for deep conditioning and adding moisture for softer, healthier hair!

After coming from under the steamer, I could almost immediately tell the difference with not only my natural hair…but my extensions as well! It was sooooo soft, full of body and shine! The blow dryer ran through my hair with ease as if it were…silk (no pun intended lol). I could not stop running my fingers through my hair…I was in L O V E!

Adding layers and her signature Bombshell Curls, the end result was absolute perfection! My curls flowed with nothing but body and bounce each time I turned my head…you couldn’t tell me nothing!! LOL Alisha’s professionalism, knowledge and expertise on the Vegan Silk-Out enhanced my experience even more. Step by step she explained to me exactly what she was doing to my hair, why she was doing it and what the potential outcome would be if I continued with the process. With my natural hair being one of the most important things to me, it’s always great to have a stylist that actually specializes in healthy hair care…

  1. Ms. Alisha: come to Philly, come to Philly. I googled the process to see if any Philly stylists do it yet. I didnt come up with any results. I do use many vegan products on my natural hair which I have been rocking for almost 2 months now. Maybe I’ll play around with my products and my saved supply of SGDH brazilian hair.

  2. Thank you a bunch for sharing this with all people you really understand what you’re talking approximately!
