The Glam-Aholic Experience: Mia Ray’s Head To Toe

unnamed-4

*sigh* Can I have a moment of honesty with my Glam-Aholics? Just a moment! I know I can keep it real with y’all…right? I absolutely HATED my birthday look! Wait…let me explain *Kevin Hart’s hand & voice*. I’m just gonna call this “when shopping online goes wrong”. I had a vision in mind and this was not it…at all. My initial outfit fell through because the tailor was unable to alter the piece. So, at the last minute I hopped online and this metallic dress from TopShop caught my eye. Click…order…ship…boom. The dress literally arrived two days before my birthday and by that time I was too busy and overwhelmed to realize that this wasn’t IT! I’m completely SPIRALED into a heart attack. From the look online I thought it was a bronze shade…NOT pink! The flare on the model gives the illusion that the dress was much shorter and slimmer, which was the complete opposite lol When I posed for pictures with people, it caused the dress to shift forward or outward and made me look like a balloon 🙁

Ok…enough of the stuff I didn’t like, let’s get to the things I loved!

Y’all are gonna kill me but these boots were a gift, so I don’t know exactly where they are from…but I am committed to finding them for you guys! (They are not Givenchy, but definitely a great look for less)

The Pink & White glam squad is nothing to play with. Cassandra (MUA) and Alisha Taylor (hair) gave me birthday glam realness!

And with all of my favorite people such as Niketyi, Chary Jay, Marv Neal and my brand manager Meagan in attendance…my 29th birthday was a success! But, in conclusion I learned a valuable lesson, never wait until the last minute for such an important day…I completely want to delete this look from my fashion rolodex and fast forward to my 30th birthday! LOL

  1. I actually think you look gorgeous! But, I know how it feels to be uncomfortable when it comes to an outfit.

I still say you nailed it 🙂

  6. Girl I’m not gone lie the first pic I saw of you I was like Mia noooooo(you’re my homey in my head). Then I saw the full look with the boots and said Yessssssss. I think you pulled it off. Great job

  7. I was wondering why you only posted ONE pic! I think it turned out cute but I know you had a vision in your head and that dress didn’t match it.

  8. All I’m going to say is when we reach the prosperity that God has in store for us. I’m hiring a driver & seamstress! LOL I absolutely hate when my vision doesn’t come together at the hands of others. The people you loved we’re there and you had a great time!!! I thank you for being so candid about your experience.

  9. First off, I think you are gorgeous!! I just want to say that before I come in with my few suggestions because I truly feel that if worn the right way it could have and can be in the future a great dress to wear. I think the dress would have been great with a belt to further cinch in your waist…no shade because I know you recently had a baby. Im only saying this because of the ballon comment but also because I think it would give the dress a cute pop of an accessory. Maybe like a skinny black belt or one with some sort of rhinestone in the middle. I think a rhinestone belt would have definitely emphasized the glamour of the dress. Secondly, as much as I love those boots, wrong choice for the dress. I think some some strappy sandals or even pointy toe pumps would have been perfect because they would elongate your legs instead of making you seem shorter. But because of the flashiness of the dress & my choice of a belt, the shoes should be a minimal stye & color. Maybe a black ankle strap sandal or even nude pointy toe pumps. Last of all your hair (which is beautiful btw). because of the high neck of your dress, I really think you would have benefitted from pulling your hair back in a chic chignon or ponytail. The full hair adds to the “puffiness” of the look and something sleek would have been a nice contrast to the rest of the fit. All of this being said, I really hope to see you wear the dress again because its gorgeous! these are merely things I would have done. And Happy belated Birthday!!
