Glam-Aholic Retail Therapy: J Brand Coated Leggings

photo-8

Beyonce’ sends everyone into a frenzy every time she posts a pic on her Instagram page. I enjoy seeing her everyday basic looks, versus always seeing her “done up” getting ready to hit the red carpet. So, I am one of the hundreds of thousands of people that clicks the ‘like’ button each time she uploads a new look. She’s been feeding my leather addiction lately and when I saw these GREEN leggings, I knew I had to find me a pair!

photo-9Paired with an abstract print top from Forever 21, my MCM bag and my favorite combat boots….my mission was accomplished with a pair of green coated J Brand leggings. I’m quite sure these are not the exact pair that Bey has on, I’m sure hers are probably real leather and not “coated” like the pair I purchased lol!

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Head-To-Toe Prints

Paisley, florals and graphics patterns have the runways going CRAZY for head-to-toe prints! This trend isn’t like the mixed prints we talked about previously; this time around it’s all about rockin’ a single print on the top and bottom. The once fashion faux pas is now the new “do”.  You know fashion rules “out with the old, in with the new”.  No need to worry, unlike mixing prints the key to pulling this look off is all about keeping everything else minimal. All you need to set this trend off is a chic powerful statement print and you’re ready to go!

I know we all went buzzing when we spotted Beyonce’ court side rocking a head-to-toe geometric print. I appreciated this look so much because she didn’t tack on any unnecessary accessories, she let her print stand on its own because it was the focal point. That’s always important when styling, to remember what you want the focal point of your look to be. Rockin’ a coordinating print look with a sleek hairstyle like Rihanna, will add some much needed flare to your  look.

If you’re not really into the print matching get-ups, then you can certainly wear the pieces separate and still be stylish but, if ever worn together you’ll have one dynamic duo! You can always sport a matching handbag or shoe together for quick  tip to give your casual ensemble a boost. Since, I’m a plus size girl I always keep in mind my silhouette when purchasing head-to-toe looks. If you are top heavy, go with a looser top and vice versa if you’re bottom heavy. Prints can easily make your silhouette seem wider when wearing a coordinate fit.

Although the high-end designers have an inventory full of head-to-toe prints, this trend can be easily found at your local department store at an affordable price!

Ask Bri: Beyonce’s 4 Finger Rings

We’ve gotten so many requests about Beyoncé’s Knuckle Rings, that I had to hunt down the designer! Bey’s been spotted everywhere rocking her Maison Martin Margiela rings ($425.00) in several of colors.

Since we all live by the Glam-Aholic Rule Book: “Always look the part, without paying the price. High fashion look, at a budget-friendly cost.”  I hit Mia’s phone to ask her where I could find an affordable look-a-like for our Glam-Aholics.  And of course, Ms. Ray knew exactly which site I could find similar pair of rings at budget friendly cost.

Glam-Aholic Remix: Arjaunjubri’s Maternity Style

It’s been a long time coming but I finally got my energy back to get back to work. In case you haven’t heard the news I’m expecting my 2nd child in April!  Unlike my first pregnancy this one has been a struggle, for the first couple of months I had zero energy, slept from sun up to sun down and had a bad case of morning sickness. So, you can guess being a stylish mommy was nowhere on my mind. Unfortunately, due to all my physical and emotional changes I was going through I had completely lost my style. I didn’t care about what I put on as long as it fit but, on the inside I didn’t feel like myself. And ladies when you look bad you feel bad too.  So, I knew I had to do something fast to kick my style back into gear and feel like the old Bri again.

As, I thumbed through my old blog posts to try to find some inspiration, I crossed a maternity post I that had wrote a few months back.  What was I thinking?! All I had to do was to take notes from my favorite fab mommies to get my style back! Since I didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for maternity clothes that’ll only wear for a few months, I decided to just stick to my fav stores and size up.

While shopping at Forever 21, I picked up these Metallic Animals Print Leggings $13.80, that totally reminded me of the pair Beyonce’ wore on 20/20. Since I had the other pieces to complete the look I knew I had to do the remix! Doesn’t my Same Girl..Different Hair extensions give my look that extra WOW factor to top it off!? ha! This is definitely a look I will wear for date night…it’s comfy yet stylish.

I’ve always been a fan of Kourtney Kardashian’s mommy style, she always looks so effortless and fab when she’s prego.  She’s my go to celeb when I want to go boho chic and that’s exactly the direction I wanted to go in for my next look.  I picked up a black wool floppy hat from H&M few weeks back. And I had no idea what to wear with it until now.

I’d remembered seeing Kourt sporting a boho look with a floppy hat. So I put on my thinking cap and I raided my closet for the other items to finish the job. I picked up this Pure Energy Juniors Plus Tunic Top  $24.99 a month ago that would work perfectly as my top, I paired my blouse with my liquid leggings and zipped up my favorite thigh high boots to make my remix complete.

Ladies, we all know those first few months are a bit rough! Once that second trimester hits, kick your style back into high gear and bring your style back with a vengeance! This is the time when you are the most beautiful and glowing, make sure your wardrobe shines as well :)

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Camouflage

Ready to be all you can be?! You guessed it ladies; get ready to solider up this Fall and Winter. There’s nothing new about camouflage popping up in our fashion wardrobes throughout the years but, this time the military print has taken on a new life.  From jackets, pants, dresses and shoes, the classic army style is back to commanding the runways and dominating street style.  Household designers can’t get enough of the camo, showcasing peek-a-boo peeks of the print in their latest collections. The statement print is proving it can be worn more ways than just going to war.

The army influenced look can transcend your style from edgy, classic and feminine…to street, within a matter of seconds.  Zipping on a classic camouflage jacket from your local army supply store can take your casual look to tomboy chic with a snap of a few buttons.

If you’re looking to shake up your look a bit, than try pairing camo pants with baseball tee, fur vest and slipping on lace up booties. Rocking this look could definitely shake up your next date night look!  If that’s not your style, try a flirty dress with a fatigue blazer for a work appropriate look that could carry over to drinks at happy hour. Limit yourself to rocking one camouflage piece at a time. You don’t want to look like you went AWOL lol

Our favorite celebs have made camouflage look so effortless by just tossing on a piece here and there. But, Teyana Taylor stood out the crowd, choosing to pair her camo with a leather crop top for the ultimate solider look. The army inspired look is such an easy style to rock on a day to day basis. I’m sure it won’t be hard to find this print at your local department store, or you always luck up on some chic vintage pieces from your local thrift store!

Mia Ray picked up her camo pants from the local Army Surplus store, you should be able to Google and locate one in your area! But before you dash to the store, make sure you look in the back of your closet for some throwback pieces you might’ve had stashed from a few years back.

Glam-Aholic Retail Therapy: Fur Stole

Ladies, don’t you just love fur?! Well, I can’t get enough! Seriously, I just love fur (faux or real) whatever your preference, it’s the ultimate accessory for the Fall/Winter seasons. And, this year designers every where are obsessed with fur stoles.

Fur stoles are the perfect stylish option to throw on when you’re getting ready to walk out the door. I mean how simple is it to throw a stole around your neck or drape it around your shoulders?! As easy as 1, 2, 3 and they’ll keep you warm on those dreadful cold days.  Since I was looking for a trendy fur stole and  didn’t want to spend a lot of money, I checked online for a stylish fur stole at affordable price that would give me that celebrity look for less.

I was so relieved to find a few options of fur stoles at several different stores that would give me the look I was going for. Whether I’m running out the door to take my daughter to school or on my way to an event, I can toss on a fur stole to give my look a boost.  I can’t wait for the weather to officially charge so I can rock my fur stole!

Glam-Aholic Retail Therapy: Beyonce’s Aztec Cowboy Boots

I know we all squealed over those personal pictures Beyonce’ released a few weeks ago. I’m not sure if you were like me and fell in love with those aztec cowboys boots….but I was DYING to know where I could find them. And seeing how this is BEYONCE’ we’re talking about, I figured that these boots were totally out of my league a.k.a my budget LOL

Well, I was wrong! Thank goodness for Team Glam-Aholic’s Adrienne for spotting these boots while out shopping at Von Maur!

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Baroque

Don’t you just love time period pieces?! I mean, who doesn’t get inspired from the fashions of the past decade and centuries?  Well, if you’re like me you’re going to be obsessed with this Fall’s baroque period. Just in case you may be wondering what baroque actually is, it’s the characteristic of style and art that was developed in Europe in the early 17th through the mid-18th century. (Just think royalty) So if you can imagine, no details are spared this season…it’s all about the drama! I’m talking about elaborate needlework with deep rich colors and lots of embroidery…

Our fav celebrity fashionista’s have been causing quite the stir in their elaborate baroque.  I love their abstract tailored statement pieces that feature ornate prints and romantic florals.  Queen B definitely looked like royalty when she arrived at this year’s Met Gala in her exquisite Givenchy gown.

These pieces can come across as a bit over the top and you may feel that they’re only made for the runway, but if you just try it with solid pieces in your wardrobe, you’ll look regal and stylish.  Like this baroque printed skirt, perfect for a night out!

Over embellishment in the past might have been a fashion no-no, but this Fall it’s okay to indulge in the zazzle dazzle. A little golden structure will go a long way! The baroque prints are firmly back at the fashion forefront, the historic flare needlework can be found stitched on jackets, skirts, pants,  even bags and shoes.

It’s going to be hard to ignore all the baroque bling! So, in the words of our fashion ancestors “Let them shop!” LOL

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Tangerine

Get ready to take your wardrobe to new degrees with the shade of Tangerine! That’s right the ripening orange hue is one of the year’s juiciest color. And, we can’t help but to notice the fruit inspired color on everything, from fingertips, lipsticks, clothing and accessories. Not quite Red, yet not quite Orange….Team Tangerine has officially started a takeover! Since the beginning of Spring our celebrity fashionista’s have been awaking their wardrobe with Tangerine. When Beyonce made her first appearance after giving birth to Blue Ivy; her radiant tangerine dress didn’t go unnoticed. The universally appealing shade made her the talk of the town the very next day.

Your stylizing options are endless when you’re basking in glowing shade.  You can sweeten up your look with neutral tones or “go bright or go home”, pairing it with other bright colors for a color blocking masterpiece.  You know you can always rock Tangerine accessories for a smaller approach.

Team Glam-Aholic’s mission is to make your wardrobe effortless and inexpensive, so we created “3 Ways to Wear Tangerine”. It’s our cheat sheet to rockin’ this poppy punch hue no matter the occasion. When you add one Tangerine item to your look, you’ll stand out rather than be overlooked.

Although Summer is almost over, you can still put it on smash by adding Tangerine to your wardrobe and carrying it over into Fall!

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Exposed Zippers

Zip it up, zip it down or unzip it open, there’s no wrong way to zip! The over exposed zipper detail is one of this season’s hottest commodities. We’ve taken notice of this embellishment popping up in some pretty unexpected places. Clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry and everything in between; the effective fasteners have been spotted running through. No longer something you conceal behind fabric, they are now a fashion center piece.

When Givenchy’s front zipper dress moved gracefully down the runaway it was all she wrote. The leather dress with front zipper detailing added a tough edge to an otherwise sophisticated ensemble and I’ve been lusting over this trend ever since!  Instead of it being of the norm, it was something very alluring about the exposed zipper. Designers choose to use the accents because they’re dimensional and make an otherwise simple design pop.  I would make the exposed zippers the focal point of my outfit. Or I could add a zip clutch or boot to my relaxed look and watch it transcend. But, I wouldn’t go overboard because I‘ll look like I’m wearing a strait jacket LOL!  If you’re not head over heels for zippers, you can incorporate the fad into your wardrobe with a subtle pair of pants like Cassie. The fasteners aren’t only for edgy motorcycle style; zips have a lot of curb appeal. Especially, a center back zipper dress which is polished enough for a business meeting and fun enough for drinks after.

Although, zippers aren’t much of a new trend, just being revamped (like all trends), for a more chic and feminine feel. We’ve just taken notice of how the trend has comeback with a vengeance and ready to transform any simple piece.  So, the next time you’re looking for a LBD to wear to a black tie affair, opt for one with a zipper and you won’t go unnoticed.
