Mix’n & MAC’n: RiRi Woo Vs. Ruby Woo

I would like to really applaud MAC Cosmetics. The anticipation and hype for RiRiWoo was impeccable! They did a phenomenal job of convincing us that “RiRiWoo” was a different shade that we didn’t already have in our collection. Unfortunately, they are (to me), the same EXACT color. After waiting almost 2 hours to finally check out through the MAC website, I was extremely excited to get my hands on this seemingly amazing color! When it arrived I instantly did a hand swatch and applied RiriWoo. On my hand swatch RiriWoo seemed “pinker” and RubyWoo more orange.

You can imagine me disappointment when I put both colors on and took a photo. I tried different lighting, flash then no flash, indoor then outdoor. Finally, I came to the conclusion: these lippies look the EXACT same on my lips. MAC got me gooood!

So ladies if you missed the release. Don’t be sad, in my opinion…you aren’t missing a thing!

Confess your glam and let us know what are your thoughts on RiRi Woo vs. Ruby Woo!

Glam-Aholic Remix: Kim Kardashian’s Aqua Blue Pencil Skirt

kk

I saw this picture of Kim K. back in October and absolutely LOVED the way she incorporated her denim button-up with her aqua blue leather skirt. Mixing casual with dressy is a hit when properly done! I admired the look and went on about my life knowing that I would probably never find an aqua blue leather skirt lol Soon after I saw this picture I found out I was pregnant and immediately started shopping for my upcoming months. I knew that Asos had a Maternity line that was sure to keep moms stylish while pregnant, so that was my first stop! And what did I see?!

image1xl

Although not leather, it was an aqua blue pencil skirt! And it was on sale for $12, so I couldn’t beat that with a bat lol! I immediately smelled a Glam-Aholic Remix coming on…

photo-3

I drew inspiration from Kim’s look and rocked my remix. I would’ve worn the skirt earlier in my pregnancy, but I purchased it in a much larger size thinking that I would’ve gained a bunch of weight over time. That didn’t happen, so I had to wait and pull the skirt over my 7 month belly. Grabbed one of my favorite denim tops and since I’m no fan of white shoes (I do not and probably will not ever own a pair)…I rocked my “old faithful” red leather calf boots. And this…is…the remix *Diddy voice*

I also want to state that even during my pregnancy, I still wear my shapewear! Nothing is more unflattering than wearing a great outfit without support and a smooth execution. (that goes for you baby-less women also) Find maternity support/shapewear or just go up in size at any department store!

Confessions Of A Plus-Size Glam-Aholic: Zara Aztec Blouse

Guess who’s bizzack?! Whew!  Thank heaven those nine months are officially over and I can get back to confessing my glam! I missed fashion so much that I couldn’t wait to get back to shopping at my regular stores. First stop… Zara! I’ve had a love affair with Zara for a while now but was afraid to actually purchase anything because  I was unsure of the fit. Since  I live in Detroit and the closest Zara is in Chicago, I didn’t have the luxury of trying on the clothes before buying.  I decided to take a chance and order a top from their site. Man, oh man I held my breath waiting on the shirt to arrive. To my surprise, it fit! I don’t know if it was the fit or the weight loss but, the blouse was slightly oversize and loose.  You know the feeling you get when you can actually fit into something you’ve had for inspiration?! I was dancing in the mirror, taking the shirt off and putting it back on LOL I had to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming!

I knew this printed blouse would be perfect to wear on Mother’s Day. It’s easy to slip on. With two kids I need something quick and easy I can put on, while staying stylish & comfy. I paired it with my favorite pair of Gap Jeans and NastyGal’s platform pumps.

Now that I know Zara’s fit, I can proceed to checkout with the other items I’ve had in my basket!

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Crossbody Bags

crsbbg

Every girl loves a good handbag! As we all know, they come in a great assortment for us to choose from. Well lately the only cravings I’ve been having are for crossbody bags! Of course this is not anything new, but as of lately we’ve seen these everywhere from street stylelistas to the red carpet. For me, I carry this bag as a sense of comfort. I live in Detroit (not one of the safest cities #yikes) and I love to have my belongings very close to me while out & about without compromising my style. I also like the small compact feel of carrying a crossbody. Do you ever feel like the bigger the bag, the more JUNK you throw in it?! I’m talking a boat load of receipts, sunglasses, make-up and I’ve even pulled out a pair of scissors before! Who has time for that shoulder pain?! With carrying around this extra 10 pounds of body weight…I don’t need any extras lol

This entire look from head to toe is from Forever 21. I can’t resist any handbag that is this cognac shade! I feel like it’s so classic and can be worn with almost anything, so I had to have it.

Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Acrylic Make-Up Organzier

My make-up collection is a MESS…I mean completely unorganized! I sometimes try to organize everything in separate make-up bags, but in the midst of painting my face and looking for a particular item/shade…everything seems to once again become a MESS! For months I’ve been plotting and planning on buying containers that will help me become more organized. I always see pictures of people with their lipsticks all lined up perfectly inside of their clear trays and I get so jealous LOL! I log onto different websites (such as the ContainerStore.com) and add different trays/drawers to my cart, but I just never seem to checkout for my purchase…weird I know.

So, while shopping at OUR favorite store Target today, this container caught my eye! #1 because it was on clearance and #2 because it’s just what I’ve been looking for! It’s a bit strange because I’ve ventured into the storage/container aisle plenty of times before, but never came across this organizer before.

I’m able to fit 6, maybe 7 lipsticks in each of the 3 drawers and also able to see the names of each shade without throwing them around and making a complete mess. Can’t you tell how excited I am?! LOL I bought every single tray that was on the shelf, which happened to be 5 and for $6.64, I just couldn’t leave them behind.

They are perfect for lipsticks, gloss, shadows and my make-up wipes. I will be traveling to about five more Targets in my area this week to see if I’ll be lucky enough to find more! Yes it’s that serious :)

Glam-Aholic Retail Therapy: Zara Asymmetric Dress

photo 1-1

Over the weekend while in Chicago, I couldn’t resist going into Zara. By us not having one here in Detroit, it’s like a thrill to actually shop inside the store instead of online! I’ve had a reader say “I know you’re pregnant, but please don’t turn this into a maternity blog.” Welp, I can’t deny the fact that I am indeed pregnant, but everything I wear doesn’t come from the maternity section. I can still hang with the best of y’all in Forever 21 and Asos, but I just have to ensure my comfort. Which is why I ran full speed ahead to the rack when I saw this dress…it called my NAME! And my absolute favorite thing in the world is a dress with pockets, so this was an instant purchase for me…

photo 2-1

Loose enough for comfort and to hide my baby bump at the right angle, I’m sure this dress will be in heavy rotation as my belly grows bigger and bigger. The dress came in 2 other neon shades, but I decided to go with this beige color because I’ve been dying to wear my neon Prabal Gurung sandals that I picked up from Target. Mixing neons and neutrals are still a big hit in my wardrobe!

Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Pantene Pro-V’s Co-Wash Conditioner

rcprd7_large

Co-Wash: to use conditioner as you would shampoo, to cleanse/moisturize your hair without stripping or drying it out.

Finally! Pantene Pro-V received the memo! They have officially launched a new collection for #TeamNatural; truly Natural hair. After one of my favorite naturals raved about this product, I said “ok, I MUST try it!”. Previously using moisturizing conditioner to condition my natural hair and also my Same Girl…Different Hair extensions, I was dying to try this product to see if it lived up to my love of Pantene products (I die for their volumizing shampoo/conditioner). And it did! It’s been about 5 days since I used it and my hair is still soft and bouncy. I tried it on my hair extensions so the jury is still out on my natural hair. I’ve heard that it’s hard to find, but I picked mine up from Target for about $7 and they had a shelf full.

I’ll be sure to pick up the rest of the collection soon…

Glam-Aholic Retail Therapy: Bri’s Look From The Glam-Aholic Baby Shower!

I was wrecking my brain trying to figure out what to wear to The
Glam-Aholic Baby Shower, and I kept drawing a blank. At this point I’m
9 months pregnant and my styling options are very limited. So, I had to
research for two weeks through different maternity stores, boutiques
and brands to find the perfect piece to wear. Then I finally stumbled
across a chic maternity line, The Hatch Collection by 2 Birds, that had
satin jumper that I had to have! Although, I didn’t take it into
consideration that the jumpsuit was 100% satin and with my growing
belly, that was a recipe for disaster!

productimage-picture-the-jumper-218.jpg.360x500_q100_crop_upscale

When I went to try on the days
before the event it ripped!! LOL! Thank God, I know a good tailor! She
was able to repair my jumpsuit by adding extra material to the side
panels. Since it wasn’t ideal Spring weather outside, I opted for a
cream cropped leather jacket and Vince Camuto floral snakeskin pumps
to tie my look together. Ladies, you know we can’t forget about the
hair, I’m wearing 3 bundles (22 inches) of Same Girl Different Hair
Body Wave that my stylist Malika styled in a messy high bun to add
 some height to my look.

PS: My favorite fab mommy Kourtney Kardashian was spotted wearing this
exact same jumpsuit while she was pregnant!
