Mix’n & MAC’n: RiRi Woo Vs. Ruby Woo

I would like to really applaud MAC Cosmetics. The anticipation and hype for RiRiWoo was impeccable! They did a phenomenal job of convincing us that “RiRiWoo” was a different shade that we didn’t already have in our collection. Unfortunately, they are (to me), the same EXACT color. After waiting almost 2 hours to finally check out through the MAC website, I was extremely excited to get my hands on this seemingly amazing color! When it arrived I instantly did a hand swatch and applied RiriWoo. On my hand swatch RiriWoo seemed “pinker” and RubyWoo more orange.

You can imagine me disappointment when I put both colors on and took a photo. I tried different lighting, flash then no flash, indoor then outdoor. Finally, I came to the conclusion: these lippies look the EXACT same on my lips. MAC got me gooood!

So ladies if you missed the release. Don’t be sad, in my opinion…you aren’t missing a thing!

Confess your glam and let us know what are your thoughts on RiRi Woo vs. Ruby Woo!

Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Acrylic Make-Up Organzier

My make-up collection is a MESS…I mean completely unorganized! I sometimes try to organize everything in separate make-up bags, but in the midst of painting my face and looking for a particular item/shade…everything seems to once again become a MESS! For months I’ve been plotting and planning on buying containers that will help me become more organized. I always see pictures of people with their lipsticks all lined up perfectly inside of their clear trays and I get so jealous LOL! I log onto different websites (such as the ContainerStore.com) and add different trays/drawers to my cart, but I just never seem to checkout for my purchase…weird I know.

So, while shopping at OUR favorite store Target today, this container caught my eye! #1 because it was on clearance and #2 because it’s just what I’ve been looking for! It’s a bit strange because I’ve ventured into the storage/container aisle plenty of times before, but never came across this organizer before.

I’m able to fit 6, maybe 7 lipsticks in each of the 3 drawers and also able to see the names of each shade without throwing them around and making a complete mess. Can’t you tell how excited I am?! LOL I bought every single tray that was on the shelf, which happened to be 5 and for $6.64, I just couldn’t leave them behind.

They are perfect for lipsticks, gloss, shadows and my make-up wipes. I will be traveling to about five more Targets in my area this week to see if I’ll be lucky enough to find more! Yes it’s that serious :)

Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Sephora’s ‘Always Red’ Lip Stain

photo-4

Ruby Who? That’s what I’ve been saying lately ever since I purchased this lip stain. I know I mentioned in our beauty haul video, but people seem to want to hear more about it!

Sephora’s lip stain vs. Ruby Woo lip stick?

  • When I say long lasting, I mean it! I can take a nap, wake up and none of it has rubbed off on my face nor my pillow. I can eat and only have to retouch a small amount.
  • It applies as gentle and easy as lip gloss, you don’t have to rub as hard as you do when applying Ruby Woo.
  • It has the same great matte feel as Woo. Maybe even a tad bit lighter, often times I forget that I’m even wearing it.
  • A great color/product for a great price.
  • I get compliments EVERY time I wear it!

This red rings bells!

Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Maybelline’s New Color Sensational Vivids

I am a BIG sucker for neon lipstick! I could not resist seeing the magazine ads and store displays as I walked through Target. The first few days (I go to Target almost every day, sad I know) I tried to avoid the temptation. Saying to myself “Mia, you don’t need another pink lipstick!” But as more and more people begin to upload their new lippies on Instagram, I just couldn’t be left out of not having a piece of this collection!

With a collection of 10 new colors Pink Pop, Fuchsia Flash, Shocking Coral, Vivid Rose, Electric Orange, Vibrant Mandarin, Neon Red, On Fire Red, Hot Plum, Brazen Berry… I purchased 3 shades.

electric-orange_pack-shot

Electric Orange: which I would compare to MAC’s Neon Orange, that I also own. I don’t even know why I purchased it because I never wear the one I’ve had for over a year. I just couldn’t resist buying a neon orange shade…it looks so cute with the rest of my collection! #Addict

pink-pop_pack-shot

Pink Pop: which I would compare to MAC’s Pink Friday, Snob or St. Germaine...it’s definitely in that baby pink family and I love it! I feel like I can never have too many pinks :)

hot-plum_pack-shot

Hot Plum: which although it looks like it would give off a purple shade, I would compare it to MAC’s most popular Candy Yum Yum. And we all know how I love my CYY, so this is a hit in my book.

These are all great drug store dupes when it’s not in your budget to head to a MAC counter, or hell if you just want some new poppin’ colors! After driving around to 2 Walgreens and a Target, it was well worth the hunt for these shades. Now only if they would make matching pencils for these colors, MAC would be in for some major competition :)

Glam-Aholic Trend Alert: Monochromatic

According to Google, the definition of Monochromatic is:

Containing or using only one color.

When dealing with fashion, it pretty much means to keep your look within the same color story throughout the entire outfit. For example blue shirt, blue pants, blue shoes, blue purse = monochromatic! Don’t over-think a look like this, each piece does not have to be the same exact shade! Just be sure that everything flows well together, give or take a few shades being off…you’ll be fine!

Take my look from the Glam-Aholic Fashion’s Night Out Shop Hop, for example….I’m gonna tell you in the order that I put my look together!

So first, I was dying for Fall to arrive so I went for the most popular color of the season…Oxblood a.k.a Burgundy! As soon as the Fall shades begin to invade the mall, I picked up these burgundy wax jeans from H&M for $29.95. I’ll be running back to get the black pair also…I absolutely love them!

Secondly, I thought back to last Fall when I purchased MAC‘s Prince Noir lipstick. It was the first dark shade of lipstick that I’ve tried and I put a lot of thought into when, where and how would I debut this shade on my lips. This seemed to be the perfect opportunity since the lipstick is a dark brownish-burgundy color. I had two Oxblood pieces going, so instantly I thought to “keep the party going” and go for the monochromatic look! I was only missing one important piece…

The day before the event I calmly walked into Forever 21, picked up this peplum top for $14.80 and walked out without any problems. It was no doubt in my mind that Forever 21 would have the Oxblood color throughout the store. It’s the most popular color of the season, and when you want popular…you shop at Forever 21 lol!

I even painted my finger nails burgundy! My goodness, I may be addicted to this trend as much as my love for color blocking LOL I see this being in heavy rotation with my wardrobe this season. It’s so simple, easy and classic. You just can’t go wrong with that!

Same Girl…Different Hair: Box Braid Bun Tutorial

I uploaded this picture to my Instragram a few weeks ago and the questions came rolling in! Everyone wanted to know who, what and how did I get my braids to stay up in a bun and also how I achieved my under-eye highlight. So I thought it would be best that I did a tutorial on both. I’m a bit long-winded so bare with me LOL

I keep getting questions on the brand of hair I used for my braids. It’s Biba’s 100% Kanekalon hair and it costs $2.49 from my local beauty supply store…

I always have to start off by saying that I am not a make-up artist, have never claimed to be. I do not feel that I have to be in full drag daily, so make-up is not a major part of me. These few products and steps is all I feel that I need to just add a little extra “bling” to my face. I do not like when women wear so much make-up that when they take it off, they look like a totally different person. I loveeeee to collect it, talk about it and try different looks…but I never want to be that dependant on make-up lol The more tricks, tools and products I learn and begin to use, I’ll be sure to share! We can grow and learn together :)

5 Things I Love This Week

1. Top Finger Rings: Asos $8.52.

As I said in the video, if you can’t find Top Finger Rings, just buy traditional rings two sizes too small!

2. My Box Braids.

This hairstyle is nothing new! I remember getting these in middle school because my mom didn’t want to deal with my thick hair and also because I wanted to look like Moesha!

3. MAC’s Candy Yum Yum $14.

This lipstick is a show stopper, I’m constantly getting asked what shade I’m wearing. I’m so happy I got it while it was still available!

4. Transitioning My Summer Wardrobe Into Fall.

My favorite season for fashion!! I can’t wait to layer my life away with scarves, sweaters and blazers!

5. Cream Eyeliner: Elf’s Cream Eyeliner $3, MAC’s Black Track $15, Elf’s Angled brush $3.

I just can’t walk outside without my eyeliner anymore…I feel naked! Using this angled brush makes it so much easier to apply. I use both of these brands and to be honest, I actually like Elf’s cream eyeliner more than I do MAC’s. You guys know I am not the believer in “if it costs more, than it’s better”!

Can’t wait to do my next “5 Favorite Things”, this was a lot of fun!
