Glam-Aholic Beauty Buy: Pantene Pro-V’s Co-Wash Conditioner

rcprd7_large

Co-Wash: to use conditioner as you would shampoo, to cleanse/moisturize your hair without stripping or drying it out.

Finally! Pantene Pro-V received the memo! They have officially launched a new collection for #TeamNatural; truly Natural hair. After one of my favorite naturals raved about this product, I said “ok, I MUST try it!”. Previously using moisturizing conditioner to condition my natural hair and also my Same Girl…Different Hair extensions, I was dying to try this product to see if it lived up to my love of Pantene products (I die for their volumizing shampoo/conditioner). And it did! It’s been about 5 days since I used it and my hair is still soft and bouncy. I tried it on my hair extensions so the jury is still out on my natural hair. I’ve heard that it’s hard to find, but I picked mine up from Target for about $7 and they had a shelf full.

I’ll be sure to pick up the rest of the collection soon…

Same Girl Different Hair: New Year….New Growth!

Checking back in since my last Natural Hair Journey post 4 months ago, with major results! I’ve had 1 sew-in and 1 quickweave since that time and major growth has taken place.

Since I always post my hair growth pictures on Instagram, I love the fact that it helps me keep track of the time frame in which my hair has grown and transformed. I visited Khabirah the week of Christmas to bring in the New Year weave free and we were both in shock of how much my hair had grown since my last flat iron, which was 15 weeks prior.

15 weeks ago, my hair was slightly below my shoulder. Now it’s slightly above my bra strap! As you can see in the pic below, my sides and bang have completely grown in. Even while in a sew-in/quickweave, I try not to apply too much heat to the natural hair that I leave out. If that’s not something you’re capable of handling, I would suggest a closure or a full installation with no leave-out. I know a lot of girls who battle with the front/top of their hair being broken off, so those things may help :)

I went even further back to see my 47 week growth and I don’t even recognize my hair! Within 1 year my hair has made a complete turn around. Remember what I always tell you, if you take care of your hair…it will take care of you.

If you are struggling with your hair, just remember to keep hope alive. Healthy hair is possible with time, patience and care!

Same Girl…Different Hair: Braidless Sew-In

Alright Glam-Aholics, let’s talk hair…#SameGirlDifferentHair that is! Since I’ve become pregnant my hair has been growing like crazy and wearing quickweaves just doesn’t cut it anymore for me.  I’ve never been fond of wearing sew-ins because my hair always manages to slip out the braids and it ends up not lasting. So, I asked my stylist Malika what other method I could try if I still wanted to rock my Same Girl Different Hair Body Wave.  She recommends that I try a braidless install, allowing me to still wear extensions without worrying about my braids unraveling.  So, since I’ll try anything once when it comes to my hair I decided to give it try! If you’re still wondering what a braidless install is, it’s an install done by creating a base using silicone filled mirco links/twist/stitch base; whatever your stylist recommends for you. It usually lasts up to 8 weeks, so I’ll check back in with you guys periodically to tell you how I maintain it.

My natural texture is curly but the hair that I leave out when I wear a weave is now wavy due to heat being applied to it occasionally.

Malika used mirco clips to create the base for the tracks to be sewn on to. This is what it looked like after she attached the first track to the mirco clips.

As you can see after two tracks sewed to the mirco clips you weren’t able to detect that I had any extensions installed. This is a plus for me because I love to wear a bun or high ponytail!

After my braidless install was completed, I was amazed of how well my natural hair blended with my Same Girl Different Hair Brazilian Body Wave!

I would recommend this for anyone who is natural and  still wants to wear extensions without messing up their curl pattern.

So far I have no complaints out of my  install or my SGDH! I’m able to wear a messy bun and high ponytail without the stress of worrying about if my tracks are showing. I’ve also dyed my body wave extensions twice and the texture hasn’t changed. My extensions are still full of body and I go a few days without wrapping my hair and without any tangling occurring.

I just wanted to sit down and talk to my Glam-Aholics about #SameGirlDifferentHair! I’ll have many more tutorials and videos coming soon!

Glam-Aholic Lifestyle: SGDH’s Feature On Essence.com!

Please excuse me for a moment while I shout! I am really on Cloud 10 right now. My product being featured on Essence.com is something like a dream come true. Since before I even began Glam-Aholic Lifestyle, I have always wanted to grace the pages of Essence! And look at me now, gracing their web pages lol! That’s just as good to me :)

I shared my vision board on my Instagram page a few weeks ago. I’d attached two pages from a Essence Magazine to my board back in 2009. I didn’t know how I was gonna get in the mag, but I envisioned that some how, some way, some day that I would be! And here you have it…my product was featured 3 years later! Always know that things take time, but it is always worth it in the end :)

This feature would not be possible without the beautiful Chary Jay. Check out her entire Ultimate Natural Hair Bloggers’ Gift Guide here! And also her YouTube page!

Mia Ray Day: Looks From My 28th Birthday!

November 23 was my 28th birthday! I truly enjoyed myself, it was a day to remember! But, let’s get straight to the point…what I wore and where I purchased everything from. I had to hurry up and write this post, I was afraid my followers on Instagram would beat me up if I didn’t tell them where I got everything from LOL So, without any further delay….

Let’s start with my hair. Malika (@EverythingBeau), installed 3 Body Wave 24″ bundles of Same Girl…Different Hair, layered it and curled it for the hair gods. The hair is sewn in and I will be showing the different transitions of my hairstyles over the next few months of the installment!

My first look was not planned at ALL! I had in my mind that I would spend my birthday in my pajamas, but my family & friends had something else in mind. I had not purchased ONE thing to wear on my birthday, so the look you see above was created in the mayhem….in the mall….on Black Friday. Yes, my birthday was on Black Friday…it was kinda like a gift and a curse LOL

A week prior to my bithday, I picked up these black suede pumps at Neiman Marcus Last Call for 40% off, so I only paid $60 for them. I love them because they show a mean toe cleavage!  I stopped in Neiman Marcus first and picked up these black leather pants. Immediately I said “I want to wear ALL leather.” Kimye popped in my head and that’s where the inspiration began. I remembered seeing a black leather peplum top in Urban Outfitters, so I dashed there and almost passed out when I saw that they had a white one! I said the fashion gods are truly on my side today in the midst of this storm! Ha!

Urban Outfitters Vegan Leather Peplum $89

Neiman Marcus Sold Denim Faux Leather Pants $167

Neiman’s Last Call Dolce Vita Bella Platform Pump $99 (with 40% off)

The next night I just wanted to chill. And yes, I wanted to wear my leather pants again. I went for a tomboy chic look and found inspiration from the other 1/2 of Kimye…

I previously spoke about my leather shirt from H&M that I never got around to wearing yet, so channeling Kanye…I went for all leather everything again!

H&M Faux Leather Top $25

 Nike Air Jordan 4′s $116

So there you have it, nothing too extravagant for my 28th Mia Ray Day. I’m so excited for my looks to come in the new year! :)

Glam-Aholic Remix: Arjaunjubri’s Maternity Style

It’s been a long time coming but I finally got my energy back to get back to work. In case you haven’t heard the news I’m expecting my 2nd child in April!  Unlike my first pregnancy this one has been a struggle, for the first couple of months I had zero energy, slept from sun up to sun down and had a bad case of morning sickness. So, you can guess being a stylish mommy was nowhere on my mind. Unfortunately, due to all my physical and emotional changes I was going through I had completely lost my style. I didn’t care about what I put on as long as it fit but, on the inside I didn’t feel like myself. And ladies when you look bad you feel bad too.  So, I knew I had to do something fast to kick my style back into gear and feel like the old Bri again.

As, I thumbed through my old blog posts to try to find some inspiration, I crossed a maternity post I that had wrote a few months back.  What was I thinking?! All I had to do was to take notes from my favorite fab mommies to get my style back! Since I didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for maternity clothes that’ll only wear for a few months, I decided to just stick to my fav stores and size up.

While shopping at Forever 21, I picked up these Metallic Animals Print Leggings $13.80, that totally reminded me of the pair Beyonce’ wore on 20/20. Since I had the other pieces to complete the look I knew I had to do the remix! Doesn’t my Same Girl..Different Hair extensions give my look that extra WOW factor to top it off!? ha! This is definitely a look I will wear for date night…it’s comfy yet stylish.

I’ve always been a fan of Kourtney Kardashian’s mommy style, she always looks so effortless and fab when she’s prego.  She’s my go to celeb when I want to go boho chic and that’s exactly the direction I wanted to go in for my next look.  I picked up a black wool floppy hat from H&M few weeks back. And I had no idea what to wear with it until now.

I’d remembered seeing Kourt sporting a boho look with a floppy hat. So I put on my thinking cap and I raided my closet for the other items to finish the job. I picked up this Pure Energy Juniors Plus Tunic Top  $24.99 a month ago that would work perfectly as my top, I paired my blouse with my liquid leggings and zipped up my favorite thigh high boots to make my remix complete.

Ladies, we all know those first few months are a bit rough! Once that second trimester hits, kick your style back into high gear and bring your style back with a vengeance! This is the time when you are the most beautiful and glowing, make sure your wardrobe shines as well :)

November is my FAVORITE month of the year! What better way to celebrate my 2 year Glam-Aholic Lifestyle anniversary and my birthday month, than by adding a new addition to the Glam-Aholic Lifestyle family?! This has been in my vision since the beginning of Same Girl…Different Hair, along with many other things. Many long nights of making sure everything would be in order for the launch and praying that my Glam-Aholics would be just as excited as I am! I’ve been rocking Same Girl…Different Hair extensions for the past month and I tried to keep quiet until I was ready to launch, but each time I upload a picture… my Glam-Aholics are not having it lol!

(These are all personal pictures from my Instagram, so excuse them LOL)

I am rocking the 26″ Brazilian Deep Wave. I’ve worn it straight, curled, wavy, washed & blowed dried…the true definition of Same Girl…Different Hair!

In celebration of my 2 year anniversary, I am thrilled to announce the exciting November 10th launch of my brand new website www.SameGirlDifferentHair.com!
