Glam-Aholic Spotlight: Abigail C. Brown

With the kickoff of ‘Styles In The City’ being today, I wanted to shine the spotlight of one of the models that will be ripping the runway this weekend. When I noticed her, I immediately knew that I wanted to speak with her to hear her story. Abigail’s joyful presence seemed as if though she were soaking up every moment and taking a mental note of everything around her. Such a beautiful pale skin tone stood out in a room full of gorgeous tan, brown and chocolate shades. She not only caught my eye, but those of my team! We all wanted to get to know more about Abigail…

In her own words..

“Since I was a child it has been my dream to be a fashion icon. I used to spend hours peering through my mothers Vogue’s and Elle’s soaking up styles and imitating models in front of her mirror. One of the things that I love most about modeling is how it pushes you to break boundaries that you felt were impossible, forcing you to take on different personalities and appearances with each job. When I am at a shoot, I throw myself into the “character” that I am trying to portray – based on the clothing, concept, etc. But I think my favorite part about modeling is the fashion; I have always had an undying love for fashion. In fact, I used to get criticized and teased in high school for breaking the “norm” with the unique and creative outfits that I wore to school. I remember when I was in 6th grade, my family took a trip to Milan, Italy to stay with some friends – of course my main motive was shopping! When I returned back to school, everyone made fun of my European trends and I was left crying in the bathroom. I went home that night and told my mom what had happened and she told me that as long as I stayed true to myself, I would never be out of style. That’s when I decided that I desperately wanted to not only be a model but to become a fashion icon, so that I could be an inspiration for the millions of young girls in the world who were ostracized for just being themselves. Modeling and fashion has given me a niche, its made me love and accept myself for who I am and I hope to use my career to empower young men and women across the world.”

“I became involved with ‘Styles In the City’ just by stumbling upon it while promoting my fan page on Facebook one day. After gathering information, I emailed Ebony and asked her if I could come audition even though I was slightly late in the game. From the beginning Ebony, ERollins Marketing, Jamar and everyone else involved with the show have been the kindest, most generous, and most hardworking people that I have met in this industry. No matter where my career takes me, I hope to always be in contact with them. This show has been the one thing that has really kept me excited about Detroit fashion and after working with this amazingly talented group of people, I once again see a bright future for the city of Detroit.”

“I hope to be working and living in NYC within the next six months. From there, I plan to go global. I feel like I’m on a roll and honestly, nothing can stop me now.”

I know for SURE we will see Abigail on the runway of a big city  fashion show in NYC, but for now catch her at ‘Style In The City’ this Sunday July 1oth…Downtown Detroit at Cobo Hall!
