Arjaunjubri :Where do you pull your design inspiration from? “My design inspiration definitely comes from what I love, and thats being different, not matching, loads of colors, and layering, and also from what I see from the streets or wherever, I just love to be different, and always stand out, but of course in a good way! plus i love vintage and retro clothing, loveeee the 70s era. =]”
Arjaunjubri: Why did you start your own fashion line? “I started my line actually as a way to keep me busy, pretty much because i was getting ready to move to ny, and i was going to school for design, then my grandmother passed away, so i just stopped going to school and then i got up and said this is my line, i was working on some pieces and then threw them in a few fashion shows around town just to start getting my name buzzing, but yeah, it all started out of loving to make my own stuff, and making what i couldn’t buy in stores!”
Arjaunjubri:What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label versus i.e. design, production, sales, finance, advertising? “Ugh, its all sooo extraneous your always going to come across some sort of loop in the road and try to figure everything out by yourself, but i guess for me im learning everything as I go, and of course my assistant handles all the crazy work shit because i get soo crazed out over sewing, and doing orders, and going out to get new fabrics and making sure noone else is using the same fabric and all that other stuff. but money money money is always the big deal, it takes sooo much to put everything in motion, esp when your struggling but when you struggle for something that you love, you will get!”
Arjaunjubri: What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start a career in fashion? “Know what you want to do, learn everything on your own, and never let yourself down, just be ready for all the criticism and crazyness there is in this business, its fuckin wild, stand your ground and pushh for success always!”
