I never forget a face…especially Mia Amber Davis’. The plus size icon became a fashion household name for Ashley Stewart and the face of Monif C., as the list goes on. This gorgeous beauty popped up on the scene as Rhonda, in film ‘Road Trip.’ Mia Amber graced the covers of numerous magazines and has been featured in dozens of ads. She was much an inspiration to many, especially me. Growing up as curvy fashionista, I rarely saw women who looked like me in magazines or on TV. So when I spotted Mia in an Ashley Stewart ad, she instantly became my aspiration. To see someone so graceful, beautiful and confident, with such a flawless face and shapely body….was unknown at the time for me. From then on, I became a huge fan of hers. She broke down many barriers and stereotypes of plus size women and models. To see someone who’s image portrayed a “real woman’s figure”, showcased on BET’s “Rip the Runway”… was such an achievement for the plus size community.
Mia Amber Davis was laid to rest May 10, 2011. The Model, Icon, Actress and Community leader will be truly missed.

Yes, I believed she passed right after Mother’s Day. So sad. Young talented and beautiful. I love seeing plus-sized women carry themselves just as flyly as us that are a lil smaller and Mia was a bad chick! The first time I saw Road Trip I couldnt help but to notice how pretty she was. Then to see her use her talents to help pave the way for others, that was great.
